‘Alice in Wonderland’ Half-Term Workshop

November 3rd, 2014

Based on the ballet ‘Alice in Wonderland’ (which opens at The Royal Opera House later this month) our half-term workshop was an opportunity for twenty of our Reception, Pre-Primary and Primary level pupils to learn and rehearse an adapted (!) version of ‘Alice’, create their own props and costumes and take part in a short performance. White rabbits, naughty knaves, wicked red queens, mad hatters and sleepy dormice were the order of the day – the children loved every minute and Miss Sophie was delighted by their focus and enthusiasm over the three day period.

Darcey Bussell

July 2nd, 2014

One of our Grade 4/Intermediate Foundation pupils, Eloise Webb found herself in conversation with the world famous prima ballerina – Darcey Bussell! Eloise’s debut as the Wizard in our production of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ was imminent and so she took the opportunity to ask Darcey’s advice on how to tackle the role – apparently she was very helpful indeed! Thank you to Karolina for these wonderful photographs of the event.

The Ballet Academy

July 1st, 2014

The Ballet Academy was set up 2 years ago under the umbrella of The Ballet School to cater for children between the ages of 7 and 10 who show the potential to possibly pursue a vocational training. It has been an extremely successful programme so far with 5 of the original 6 being accepted onto The Royal Ballet School Junior Associate scheme. The children also did very well at the Royal Academy of Dance London Region Awards this year with 1 winning the top prize and another winning the prize for Musicality and Artistry. We are very proud of what they have achieved and how much they have progressed. These children will now graduate into the pre-vocational class and we look forward to welcoming our next intake of Academy children (Lila, Ambrose, Emma and Bonnie) in September 2014.

Well done to everyone in the cast and an enormous thank you to those helping out behind the scenes.
