Ventures

Since its inception pupils from The Ballet School have been fortunate enough to be involved in many exciting ventures. These have included the following:

International Dance Teacher’s Conference 2012, The Royal Ballet Upper School, Covent Garden

Twelve Nursery and Reception age children were fortunate enough to dance in the studios of the Royal Ballet School as part of the International Dance Teacher’s Conference 2012. The children, led by Miss Vanessa, were illustrating how classical ballet is introduced to this particular age group.

Galle Children’s Festival, Sri Lanka

Vanessa was invited to represent The Ballet School in Sri Lanka and be a part of this fantastic initiative run by the charity AdoptSriLanka.  The festival (which was founded in 2011) is exclusively for school children living in Sri Lanka and offers a weekend of diverse activities from ballet to kite-making completely free of charge and is held in the historic town of Galle, Sri Lanka.

The Ballet Academy

The Ballet Academy was launched at the beginning of this year with Liane Mcrae and has been set up to provide specialised training for those children who have the physical make-up to possibly pursue a career in dance. It has been designed for the pre-vocational child (7 – 10 age group) and is by invitation only.

‘Barbie in Swan Lake’ – press launch

A group of our pupils were chosen to take part in a ‘Swan Lake’ workshop organised by Mattel to promote their latest release and led by the Royal Ballet’s Darcey Bussell.

‘Angelina Ballerina’ – TV series

Eight of our pupils ranging from 5 to 9 years old appear in the latest episodes of the ever-popular ‘Angelina Ballerina‘ TV series produced by Hit Entertainment and broadcast worldwide.

The Royal Academy of Dance Pre-School Curriculum – ‘Dance to your Own Tune’

Some of our youngest students are to be seen in the booklet and accompanying DVD of this educational tool designed to help give teachers a fresh, updated approach to the training of a pre-school age child. Filming took place at the Royal Academy of Dance Headquarters, Battersea Square.

‘One Minute Silence’ – Amarillo Films

Twelve girls were chosen to appear in a short film directed by a young Kiwi director from Amarillo Films with Liv Cuniberti and Maude Sieghart playing the two main characters. The film is due for release later this year.

‘Angelina Ballerina’ Interactive Ballet Game

Five of our Primary/Grade 1 children – Estee Keith, Hannah Dingemans, Isabelle Liao, Matthew Dingemans and Ned Whitley are to be seen in a new interactive educational ballet game under the ‘Angelina Ballerina‘ brand name.
